Extended Stay

Believe it or not my life suddenly had a slight change in plans. Oh wait. My life is a slight change of plans. I wonder what I would do if life ever became predictable for me. I have decided to stay a few more days in Southern California. In short, my boss has been begging me to stay (I love it!) and the job I was looking forward to just fell through. So I am hanging on to the beach, friends, sun, smog and income just a little bit longer. I have been extremely busy lately. Too much work and too much play make for some exhausting days. There have even been nights when I have not slept at all ;).

In general, last week was not too eventful. You would have already seen my FHE post from last Monday, and for the most part that was it. I was trying so hard to get out of here by Friday that I did not have time for my usual excitement. Of course, I can never leave well enough alone so when my boss offered me a substantial raise to do odd jobs for him, I ran with it.
Extending my stay has turned my dull week in to pure excitement. On Friday night I had the chance to attend the American Ballet Theatre’s performances of Etudes and Rabbit and Rogue. Emily, you owe me those photos. Unfortunately, one cannot take photos of the performance and any photos of the performance that might be available are copyrighted. What is a guy to do? At least here is the link to their website http://www.abt.org/.

It has been nearly a decade since my first and last ballet, Carmina Burana Performed by the Seattle Choral Company, The Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Seattle Orchestra. I was already familiar with the musical score as my late step-mother, Lulu Honeycutt, had performed it annually on New Year’s Eve until cancer no longer afforded her the strength to do so. Watching it put to ballet was fantastic! My exposure through Lulu to the classical performing arts has been a primary influence in developing my appreciation for the same.

My side work with my former boss has been fulfilling. It is not every day I get paid to bum around tinkering with computer systems and networks all day. It is all very boring a technical so I will not get into detail about it.

This weekend has allowed me ample time to unwind, tie off some loose ends and best prepare for my next journey in life. I anticipate leaving by late Thursday morning if not Wednesday night.

The air mattress did make all the difference- see this entry- http://bennkortney.blogspot.com/2008/06/im-alive.html. That's the story of when I went camping at 4 months pregnant without an air mattress. And having a predictable life would be less entertaining and no one would read your blog, except maybe your mother.

I do owe you pictures! All those late nights without sleep are surprising Jeff! What could you be possibly doing with all those hours and with whose company are you spending your time with? They must be pretty fun to not want sleep :) I am glad you got an extended stay!
