BACK ONLINE!!!

I am excited to announce that after a week plus, I am now settled in Dallas and back online. I will get this blog going again.

Thankfully my drive to Dallas was mostly uneventful. I left fairly late on Thursday (2:00pm) because I was waiting around for my paycheck. I still got to my dad’s in Palm Springs at a respectable hour and we had time for dinner at Babe’s and a movie, Dark Night. Since returning from my mission, my dad and I have both been very busy and were never residing in the same state. Accordingly, we have not seen much of each other for quite some time. This made my time with my dad particularly important to me. As guys do, we did not talk about anything too profound, just catching up on what’s new. I was glad to spend this one-on-one time with him for the first time in a LONG time.

Surprisingly, Friday was an easy drive from Palm Springs to a li’l ol’ town called Pecos, TX. This was about an hour’s drive short of my goal for Midland, but my eyes started getting heavy and I was carrying precious cargo – or so I was told. In Pecos, I stayed at Grandma and Grandpa’s frequented Motel 6. I was tempted to ask if there was an Ellis discount there yet.

I had stopped just around 12:00 or 1:00am CDT so it still felt like 10:00pm having come from California. As tired as I was I just could not resist the temptation to take advantage of my unlimited weekend minutes and ended up talking on the phone for a few hours. I am proud to say I did get 4 hours of sleep, which is twice as long as 2 hours ;) so I had twice the energy to finish my move.

The scenery was beautiful with some fantastic dust storms, thunder storms, and rock formations. Sadly, the rainstorm somehow flooded my A/C and I am still trying to find the problem :( But I had a chance to refresh what little French I know (Thank you Pimsleur) and even knock out quite a bit of the Book of Mormon on CD.
